Here’s a look at some of the themes and topics we hope to cover during the first quarter of 2012.

 

January

  • Theme: People “On The Margins,” Housing Instability
  • Feature: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Community of Sant’Egidio.
  • Other stories: Denver area homeless point-in-time survey.

 

February

  • Theme: Racism, “Us v. Them”
  • Possible features: 19th-century town of Covert, Michigan.
  • Other stories: Review of United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Faith Advocacy Day on Feb. 20, World Day of Social Justice on Feb. 22, commentary on what it’s like to be a foreigner in a strange land.

 

March

  • Theme: Poverty in the United States
  • Possible features: Dorothy Day, Lawndale Christian Health Center in Chicago, Ill., two local physicians’ dreams for low-income health care.
  • Other stories: Historical review of U.S. approach to poverty alleviation, remembering Spain’s terrorist bombing, lessons from St. Patrick in honor of St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.

  • Theme: Trafficking
  • Possible features: Clapham Sect, a rescued girl.
