A word from EE’s founder
Thank you for visiting EverydayEpics.com, a non-profit news source highlighting the story of need in the world today. Through this site you’ll encounter some inspiring true stories and some sobering ones as well. Consider starting with one of our featured stories or profiles, and go from there. Otherwise, for descriptions of our main sections, click here.
When I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in 1997, I never thought I’d end up running a faith-inspired news site, but I’m glad now for the opportunities I’ve had in my career to experience the world, meet people from all walks of life and generally see things with new eyes. I did marketing and public relations for a hospital system for two years, and spent 10 years serving as a campus minister in New Mexico, Colorado and Spain, before founding the non-profit initiative that is now Everyday Epics in 2009. I love good books, fly-fishing, playing pick-up basketball (when I don’t hurt myself) and watching sports (when my team wins). I live in Broomfield, Colo., with my wife and four kids.
So that’s a little about me and this site. You also need to know that this site wouldn’t be possible without:
- Heath Haussamen, a close friend who runs a nationally recognized political reporting website, but still finds time to offer advice and help maintain our social media.
- My friends — Peter Lively, a filmmaker; Chris Bollegar, a priest; and Karl Wheeler and Kathy Escobar, co-pastors of my family’s faith community. Their encouragement, courage and presentness in my life enrich my efforts to share the story of need.
- My wife, Angela, whose passion for adoption and HIV education helps fuel my own passion for the needs of others.
- My kids — Maegan, Ryan, Addison and Anthony — who love stories and give me lots of opportunities to practice storytelling.
- The dozens of families, individuals and faith communities who support this initiative financially and otherwise.
